What would this look like
To my neighbor
To the raven
To my future self
Walking by
Me kneeling before this tree
Mouth wide
Under the hole I’ve just drilled in its body
Waiting for the first cold drop
My god
How we shut our eyes for sugar.
These were the first drops of maple sap for this year’s sugaring season here on Thickery Pricket Farm. It was short and sweet. Nothing quite like it. Thanks to everyone who ordered wreaths and garlands this past holiday season - all the materials were harvested where we needed walking space in our sugar bush and to give the maples some space.
